Not because I think that immigration doesn’t need to be addressed, but because it unfairly singles out a segment of our population and really sets a bad precedent. Those in favor of the law say that it doesn’t infringe on the rights of Hispanic Americans. I heard a debate on a national news network where the supporters said that Hispanic Americans have to have been stopped for a previous infraction of the law before the tenants of the immigration law can be enforced, But obviously they haven’t read the law. It allows the police in Arizona to stop anyone they believe to be illegal and ask them to produce their papers. It not only encourages law enforcement to profile Hispanics, but it also makes me think of a certain time and place where you always needed to have your papers handy in case that you needed to produce them to law enforcement. And that was Nazi Germany.

Latina women are our nannies, produce pickers and other key workers of our society. They do many of the jobs that many Americans feel are beneath them. And they do this to better their station in life. Many of these illegals are here to make a better life for themselves, something our forefathers wanted to do. A chance to direct our own destiny. So why don’t we give them a chance’ Now I don’t claim to be an expert on immigration, but it occurs to me that we should be finding ways to integrate the productive members into America, while obviously getting rid of the bad element.  We should be finding way to bring this group of people into our society. We shouldn’t be going down the dangerous path of intolerance that inevitable leads to racism.
