The typical adult film has changed its look over the past decade. The big bushes, the bow-chica-wow-wow music and the feature length films have mostly been replaced by clean shaven girls, the sounds of chocking or gagging and the very predictable 30 minute scenes.

The story lines are gone and a single DVD can no longer be looked at as a full piece of work, but rather a cheap excuse for a film. Burt Reynolds’s character in Boogie Nights would certainly be pissed if he saw the progression of a onetime almost glamorous side shadow of the Hollywood film industry. This new GONZO style of porn takes away from the idea of film or cinema for that matter and focuses more on the point of view of the cameraman, making me nauseous from the repeated motion of the scene.

All this being said, we need to toast the boys and girls at Wicked, who despite other studios moving to this new way of shooting, have stayed true to the cinema aspect of porn. They’re still putting out (on a very constant basis) full length feature films with characters, sets, music, costumes and big name starlets who are not scared to do some acting. Their movies feel like something you can watch in a theatre, with big budgets, big hair and even bigger scripts. One thing they certainly haven’t lost is their ability to pick beautiful woman who appear to love what they’re doing because at the end of the day it’s still al about fucking. The Wicked way is a breath of fresh (or old) air, depending on how you look at it. It’s certainly my kind of film that glamourizes the business instead of demoralizing girls with fish hooks and donkey punches.

I just watched the movie SPEED from Wicked and I was completely blown away by the production value of the film. Its everything I want in a porn flick and then some. Hot woman, big tits, fast bikes and loose morals. Although the classic 70’s music has been replaced by some more modern tracks, I think a can live with this type of progression. 

So today we salute a studio that’s keeping it real and reminding us that porn can still have story lines while keeping it’s main function of turning people on.
